How did the New England Carcinoid Connection begin?
In October of 2004; nine of us, all Carcinoid / Neuroendocrine cancer survivors or caregivers, got together with the purpose of bringing a national conference on Carcinoid / Neuroendocrine tumors to New England. Conferences are informative, enlightening, give us a chance to meet many other people, and provide us an opportunity to learn about what was available for treatments within the United States (and world too)! What we found was missing at the national conferences, were representatives of the New England medical community; even though successful research, clinical trials and treatment of Carcinoid / Neuroendocrine tumors are being conducted here. Although we have not realized our goal of hosting a national conference, we continue with our mission to provide awareness, education and support to the New England Carcinoid / Neuroendocrine community.
What has the New England Carcinoid Connection accomplished?
We turned our efforts to planning regional conferences. We also formed a support group which meets bi-monthly in Newton, Massachusetts, and created our website.
What is the New England Carcinoid Connection’s future?
We are currently working on and will continue to provide awareness, education and support to the New England Carcinoid / Neuroendocrine community.
We welcome your tax deductible support!
We look forward to hearing from you!
